Custom order a Patterned View-scape
Celebrate your home or an especially favorite place with a Patterned View-scape. I have both a standard size (20x22x1.5) and a standard price ($650).
There’s this ‘insertion’ of human life into nature that happens when we, humans, build structures. I’m delighted by it. Pattern, to some degree, is a part of almost everything in our world, right down to cellular structure. It can be seen in the buildings we construct, right down to the plans that are used to create them. Nature, too, has her structures, and in them pattern is everywhere. It is in every leaf, tree, flower, and blade of grass. I ‘build’ on that ubiquity when I create Pattern View-Scapes, ‘re-interpreting’ nature’s creations – and some human ones - in human-generated patterns.
If you have a home that you’d like to treasure in this unique way you might consider such a ‘portrait’ of your home… or perhaps, you want a memento of the home where you grew up… or maybe there’s a ‘famous’ house that you particularly love… I fell in love with an ancient tree in California and have created a View-Scape of that.
If you can supply me with a few good photographs, preferably shot at a distance so the surroundings are clear, I may be able to ‘translate’ that into a painted portrait fantasy. Finding out if that’s something I can do for you costs nothing but your time.
What I’d need from you in order to accomplish this would be: A shot of the home or building, as close as you can get and still get all of it. Three shots of the home from a good distance, ideally, showing me exactly what you’d like to see around the home. One with the house more or less centered; one with the house off to the left but not the far left; and another with the house off to the right but not too far right. (It doesn’t matter if other things, say, electrical boxes or a shed are present. Those sorts of things can be eliminated if necessary.) Having all those vantage points available to me is necessary for me to be able to establish a well-balanced composition for the work.
I will send you work-in-progress shots for your consideration. That way, if anything seems off or just-not-right in some way it can be addressed while the work is in progress.
The time it takes for me to create such a work can take anywhere from a month to six weeks. I work on a horizontal surface as my wrists and hands are exceedingly crippled, my fingertips just about resting on my palms.
